EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
To sit for the Exam: a bachelor's degree with at least 24 accounting credits (24 semester hours undergraduate financial accounting/auditing/taxation/management accounting, plus 24 semester hours of business courses). For licensure: 150 semester hours with an accounting concentration; candidates may alternatively qualify with a bachelor's degree plus two years of experience, or a master's degree plus one year.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
At least 2,000 hours of supervised work experience, completed in no less than one year and no more than three years.
SEPARATE ETHICS EXAM REQUIRED?
Yes, a separate ethics exam/course is required.
CAN YOU SIT FOR THE EXAM BEFORE FINISHING ALL EDUCATION?
Yes — candidates can typically sit for the Exam before finishing all coursework required for full licensure (e.g. at 120 semester hours, finishing the rest before licensure).
APPLICATION NOTES
Minnesota requires passing the AICPA Professional Ethics course within six months of applying for licensure, and all four Exam sections within a rolling 30-month period.
